Tere Ishq nachaya..

Thank god for long weekends 🙂

After a long long while.. here it goes..
There’s this song which has been playing in my head for days now..

Beautiful poetry.. Beautiful song..and the story behind it

Due to some reason, Bulle Shah’s guru is upset with him and refuses to see him. Burning in Viyog, he tries everything to seek his mercy.
Then he remembers his Guru’s love for song and dance. He joins a group of nautch girls and learns to dance and sing.

On an occassion when he knew His Guru would be present, he disguises himself as a women and sings and dance.

Thats when this song was sung..

Tere Ishq nachaya Kar Thaiya Thaiya

Cheti aavin Ve Tabiba, Nahin Ta Main Mar Gaiyaan
Cheti Bawdi Ve Tabiba, Nahin Ta Main Mar Gaiyaan
(come back soon, i am dying without you)

Tere ishq ne dera mere andar kita
bhar ke zeher payala mein te aapey pita
jhabde bhaudi ve tabiba nahin te mein mar gaiyan
( Your love is spread inside me…I, myself, filled the cup with this poison and drank it)
(come back soon, i am dying without you)

Tere Ishq nachaya Kar Thaiya Thaiya
Tere Ishq nachaya Kar Thaiya Thaiya

Chup gaya ve suraj bahar reh gayee aa lali,
Ve mein sadkey hovan, deven mud je vakhali,
Peeran mein bhul gayian, terey naal na gayian
Terey Ishq Nachaiyan kar thaiya thaiya,

(the sun has set now, only glow remains.. I will give my life for one glimpse
Its my fault I didnt go when you called )

Aes Ishq Di Jhungi Vich Mor Bolen Da
Saanu Qibla Te Kaaba, Sohna Yaar Disenda
Saanu Ghaayal Karke Pher Khabar Na Layiyaan
Saanu Ghaayal Karke Pher Khabar Na Layiyaan

(Peacocks sing in the groves of love.
My beautiful beloved is my kaaba, my kibbala)

Tere Ishq nachaya Kar Thaiya Thaiya
Tere Ishq nachaya Kar Thaiya Thaiya

Random Ramblings!!

In love with life..

Its not just a caption/status msg, But yes, I love life, not as much as I would ideally want to, But nevertheless… I do.

Isnt it beautiful that this world offers so much.. so much to experience,to feel,to laugh about, to cry about, to see, to remember, to cherish…

They are different places to be seen.. Each a world in its own, every place has its own elements, its own colors, its own nature.

There are different people to be met, each person made by God.. each person driven by a thought process guided by what he has experienced in life and what he is going through. He/she touches your life and you leave a mark on others.

Different emotions.. Your heart might soar with happiness or you might be feeling dark and gloomy.. Each emotion is a part of the spectrum, you might be on top of the spiral, or you might be sliding down..

Be it the pitter patter of raindrops or the cold wind blowing against my skin. I love it all.

Do I have an appetite for life? I would say, Bring it on!

Although I am not much into English songs, this one completely made me fall in love with it. Its amazing how music can make you feel so much…

I’ve been awake for a while now
You got me feeling like a child now
‘Cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tinglies in a silly place

Starts in my toes
makes me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes i always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go

Oh, and you can find it on my facebook profile.

Shine like a Star..

Faith. There isn’t much worse then losing faith. And the battle is pretty much lost the moment we lose it.

So.. Keep walking 🙂

Shine like a star..

When you’ll see you have nothing to change in your fear,
When your dreams will come true through trouble and grief,
Then you will shine like a star, be the best you can be
In your heart, in your life, in your dreams.
Share all your shine with the entire world,
Make the people believe in love.
In that time when you will shine like a star,
You will see the path you’ve chosen in your life.
And no one can stop your shine.
No one can stop you again.
Its your time.

Shine like a star, be the best you can be
In your heart, in your life, in your dreams.
Share all your shine with the entire world,
Make the people believe in love.
Then you’ll throw away your sadness,
Then you’ll find again all your happiness.
Then you’ll keep forever your kindness.
You wil never be sad or brightless.
Shine like a star in the sky,
Shine like a star through the night.

Go figure :)

Jaise Aankhon Ki Dibiya Mein Nindiya
Aur Nindiya Mein Meetha Sa Sapna
Aur Sapne Mein Mil Jaaye Farishta Sa Koi
Jaise Rangon Bhari Pichkari
Jaise Titliyan Phoolon Ki Kyari
Jaise Bina Matlab Ka Pyara Rishta Ho Koi

Dekho Raaton Ke Seeney Pe Yeh Toh
Jhilmil Kisi Lau Se Ugey Hain
Yeh To Ambiya Ki Khusboo Hain
Baagon Se Beh Chale
Jaise Kaanch Mein Choodi Ke Tukde
Jaise Khiley Khiley Phoolon Ke Mukhde
Jaise Bansi Koi Bajaye Pedon Ke Tale

Kabhi Baatein Jaise Dadi Nani
Kabhi Chalkein Jaise Mum Mum Paani
Kabhi Ban Jaaye Bhole
Sawaalon Ki Jhadi
Sannatey Mein Hansee Ke Jaise
Sooney Hothon Pe Khushi Ke Jaise
Yeh To Noor Hain Barse Gar
Teri Kismat Ho Badi

Jaise Jheel Mein Lehraye Chanda
Jaise Bheed Mein Apne Ka Kandha
Jaise Manmauji Nadiya
Jhaag Udaye Kuch Kahe
Jaise Baithe Meethi Si Jhapki
Jaise Pyar Ki Dheemi Si Thapki
Jaise Kaanon Mein Sargam
Hardam Bajti Hi Rahe….

Stop all the clocks..

I don’t think I have words to describe this one..

Funeral Blues

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

W.H. Auden

P.S. I am in no sort of mourning whatsover ; the emotions one feels is a function of reality as well as imagination 🙂

Radha & Meera

Today is Janmashtmi, and I want to write about two women who loved Krishna. Its their love for Him which is so pure, so selfless, that it makes me believe in Him more.

Radha, the eternal consort of Lord Krishna, Radha embodies the totality of love for Krishna. Like sun and sunshine, they are one… part of the same being.

The story of her birth goes like this – On a half-moon night in the month of Bhadra, King Vrishabhanu came to the Yamuna to bathe and found himself engulfed in a golden aura, the golden aura of pure love. It was emanating from a lotus, which had a baby girl standing on its whorl. When the king returned to the palace with the baby, Queen Kirtida was delighted. She was also shocked that the girl was blind.

Lord Krishna’s mother, Yashoda, heard that her best friend Kirtida had a baby, so she came to visit along with her husband and her son. Krishna crawled up to the cradle and pulled Himself up and looked in. At that moment, Srimati Radharani’s eyes fluttered and opened wide and blossomed like lotuses. It seems that she did not want to see anything of this world, only the form of Sri Krishna.

Although it is said that Krishna was so beautiful that He could attract millions of Cupids and was therefore called Madan-mohan, “the attractor of Cupid,” Radharani could attract even Krishna. She was therefore called Madan-mohan-mohini—”the attractor of the attractor of Cupid.”

For me, she symbolizes true devotion, selflessness, caring, nurturing, and love in its purest form. The reason why I think Krishna found her to be most the attractive was because of her devotion and her love for him. Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita that as one surrenders unto Him, He reciprocates accordingly.

True love means no expectations and unconditional caring. Its said, once Rukmani asked Radha in her dream,”Why is it that whenever your name comes up in a conversation, Krishna gets very sad” Radha’s response, with tears flowing from her eyes,”Please never remind my Krishna about me,if it brings tears to his eyes”.

If I talk about Love for Krishna, how can I forget Meerabai? Meera’s love for Krishna was purest, noblest and unparalleled. The most unconditional, that I have ever known.. One that does not seek, just gives. Some say she was reincarnation of Radha.
She imagined herself to be one of the Gopis, Lalita, and knew Krishna’s heart lay somewhere else.

Are they opposites?

Love is same, devotion is equal. Its the manifestation of their love which differed…

There is this song which keeps coming to my mind when I think of both. I think it does capture the difference in their devotion..

Ek Radha, Ek Meera dono ne Shyam ko chaha
Antar kya dono ki chaah mein bolo
Ek prem deewani, ek daras deewani

Raadha na madhuban mein dhoonda
Meera ne man mein paaya
radha jise kho baithi
vo Govind aur daras dikhaya
Ek murali ek payal,
Ek pagli, ek ghayal
antar kya dono ki preet mein bolo
Ek surat lubhani, ek murat lubhani

Meera ke prabhu Girdhar naagar
Radha ke manmohan
Raadha din shringaar kare aur Meera ban gayi jogan
Ek rani ek dasi, dono Hari prem ki pyaasi
Antar kya dono ki tripti mein bolo
ek jeet na maani, ek haar na maani

P.S. I have struggled hard to understand all this, maybe the comprehension still evades me.
But then I feel you cannot understand if you try to see all this through eyes which are habitual to see the material world, you are bound to misconstrue..
